"BATCAVE, THE "Too Many Transmissions" EP
This is a 5 song CDR 3". The music is lo-fi, guitar and drum
experiments at the core. The distortion that covers this is of the cheap
toy variety. No low end at all, irritating and very grainy. There
are vocals through out that are squeezed through similar processing and are
largly unintelligible, but i made out the recitation of a P.O. Box address.
There are structures that surface, but on the whole it has a loose and sloppy
feel, in fact even when it does reveal structure it's loose and sloppy.
The frequency range and cacophony of this really doesn't have much to this that
is engaging. It seems to hurt the ears for the sake of doing it. I
have a hard time believing someone would put this on for fun, but what do I
know. Seems like I've been getting more of this kind of thing lately and I
just don't get it, which assumes blindly there is even something to get. - Scott
